Description
Thiis stunning and archaic rug was made by Bakhtiari nomads during the second half of the 19th century in western Persia. The compartmentalised design is an early drawing from this area - look at similar designs of later Bakhtiari rugs and you will observe degeneration - particularly in the commercialised rugs of the 20th century. In this beautiful rug, note the main border design which is a reminder of the borders in Shirvan rugs from the eastern Caucasus - quite amazing!
Size: 2.00m x 1.22m (6' 6" x 4' 0").
Viewing by appointment only.
