Description
This very decorative square rug was made by the Baharlu tribe of the Khamseh Confederacy in south-west Persia during the last quarter of the 19th century. I have to refer to it as 'the chicken rug' as it is literally covered in chickens pecking at seeds on the ground! In mint condition with a soft, lustrous woollen pile, this rug is a nice example of the work done by the Arab Baharlu in the 19th century.
Size: 1.83m x 1.68m (6' 0" x 5' 6").
Viewing by appointment only.
