Description

The 'baladan' in Persian is a container for wooden spoons, used in nomadic life.
This beautiful baladan, which is woven in extremely fine, multi-coloured, complementary weft-weave on both front and back faces, was made by Qashqa'i nomads in Fars Province, south-west Persia circa 1900-1920. The selveges are overbound in plain-weave, goat-hair with knotted-pile tufts, a most attractive feature.
Size: 47 x 31cm (1' 6.5" x 1' 0").
Viewing by appointment only.
