Description
This tiny 'chanteh' or vanity-bag was woven in warp-faced alternating float-weave technique and specific to the Darrehshuri tayefeh within the Qashqa'i Confederacy. Both faces are in the same technique with one face having a central 'zig-zag' pattern, possibly symbolising flowing water.In excellent condition and complete with tassels, this little bag was woven circa 1900 and might have contained a small mirror.
Size: 16 x 15cm (6. 5" x 6") excluding tassels.
