This rare and charming little knotted-pile Sofreh was made by the Bahluli sub-tribe of the Baluch during the second half 19th century. Such pieces are early and very archaic in their drawing showing a small square field containing a 'birds-heads' lozenge in the centre and rectangular bordered end panels. The pile overall is low and there are a few small areas (seen in the photo details) where a hole has developed - easily repairable! Nevertheless, this is a very unusual piece and highly collectable.
